The Party is Over

and now the work begins again.

What an AMAZING weekend the 3rd Annual MS Crop 4 Hope turned out to be. I am desperately trying to catch up with everything going on in the real world, unpack, put my house back in order, deal with a really sick child AND write all the fantastic ideas down for the next one that I have been receiving.

A HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed in some form or fashion to making this weekend happen.

I PROMISE a very detailed post, SOON.
One very tired,
Captain Jax

Arrrg Pirate Loot You say?!

Just wanted to let you ALL know that you def. wanna find out what PIRATE LOOT is all about.

Our fabulous vendors are all donating a % of their sales back to the Mid-Florida Chapter of the National MS Society to help raise money and as a huge THANX to all of you, we have created PIRATE LOOT for you this weekend.

What is PIRATE LOOT you ask? Well, it is simple...........for every $20 you spend with a vendor you will receive a PIRATE LOOT entry into three absolutely AMAZING drawings. I am not sure that I am complete liberty to say here, but I will spill just a little..............

How would an ENTIRE set of AMM scrappy luggage(yes, rolling tote, shoulder bag, wallet and matching purse sound?) a free MS Crop 4 Hope, $50 off an MS Crop 4 Hope?????

Well, I am not going to say any more as I just might get into trouble, but ARRRRRRRGGG,
PIRATE LOOT is going to make some people VERY happy and no one will have to walk the plank, I PROMISE.

See you all on Friday.

Disappointing News

Sadly, our Traveling Vineyard person has had to cancel and will not be able to attend this year :(

So, I am very sorry to say that the wine tasting has been cancelled unless I can find someone else in the next week.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

LAST CALL

for MS Crop 4 Hope shirts. PLEASE email me with your order asap. I need to get them ordered this week so we have them in time.

Honestly, if you are on the fence about these, you DO want to order one and will be "kicking" yourself if you miss out.

Remember, t shirts are $15 each and available in woman's tee size small thru 2XL
sports gray, black or lite pink
Black and Ash gray are available in men's sizes up to 5XL

All new this year are baseball jersey's in woman's sizes with 3/4 sleeves
Gray with black sleeves OR what appears to be very popular, black with HOT pink sleeves
The jersey's are just $20 each and available in size Small thru 2XL.

A portion of the cost of the shirts will be donated back to the NMSS so remember you will not only be sporting the coolest of the pirate logos, but you will be helping the cause.

Weds. Oct. 22nd by 9pm is your last chance.

Another Class

OMG you will NOT believe how gorgeous the class from KNK is going to be. I need to figure out how to post the picture, give me a minute and email me asap to sign up.

Here is a brief description from Gerri-anne.

Class Cost: $35.00

Create a beautiful Chipboard and acrylic album using K & Company’s Lotus Collection and Tinkering Ink’s Peek-a-boo album.

Wine Tasting Party

Hi all,
Just wanted to clarify a bit about the wine tasting we are going to be having with The Traveling Vineyard.
This is a "home party" type wine tasting.
There is NO cost involved in attending this but please come and understand that it is intended to be a wine "ordering" party as well. Our vendor will be sharing with us some fabulous wines and their product line............
What a fabulous way to purchase holiday gifts for the hard to buy people on your list.....you can send them a bottle of wine, purchase the wine of the month club for them(or yourself) or simply a gift certificate that they can use for their own choices.

REMEMBER each and every vendor participating in the MS Crop 4 Hope this year will be donating a portion of their sales back to the NMSS and you will be helping our great cause with everything you buy this weekend.

So, with that said, PLEASE email me if you plan to attend the wine tasting and remember, you can attend and here all about it even if you don't "partake".
Jackie

So, with that said, the FIRST person who emails me their order for a new t-shirt (or another added to their exsisting order, will win $5 off their order.

Ready, set, GO.

Another class

Being taught by CM Unit Leader, Carol Cooper

DIGITAL CLASS - 30 minutes
Love your Digital Camera and want to get the most out of those photos?
Using My Pictures to store them and have lots of lots of detailed folder names?
How long does it take you to find the pictures you're looking for on your computer?
Would you like to make an OK photo a GREAT photo with just a couple 'clicks' of the mouse?
Did you know that if your photos are stored only on your computer, you are almost certain to loose them one day?
Would you like to make an album once and give it to many as a gift? (think heritage, family reunions, anniversary parties, your own recipe book)
How about using your favorite photos to make your own invitations, cards, TY notes ... in less than 5 minutes?
Did you know you can buy digital paper and stickers and use it over and over and over again? You never use it up!
These are just a few of the things you'll learn in this class. There is NO CHARGE for this class. Please register so we know how many to accommodate.

Correction

Just wanted to let you know that I oops-ed on a couple of things and wanted to keep everyone up to date correctly.

Baseball Jersey's are WOMEN'S sizes, NOT mens.
3-5XL are men's in the t-shirts and available in ASH, which is gray but not the same as ladies and black. There is NO lite pink in men's shirt sizes........3-5XL.

Sorry for my mistakes. There is a WHOLE lot on my plate right now and I am overloaded.
Trying desperately to keep it all together.

T-shirt Info

SOrry to those of you who have emailed me asking about the shirts. I JUST finalized the details today so I didn't want to give anyone false information. I spent more than an hour at the t-shirt place this morning and I am just this minute getting home 12 hours later.

So, here is the info..........spread the word to anyone I might not have a correct email addy for please, AND you need not attend to purchase a shirt if you know a scrapper who might want one.

There will be several options for shirts this year once again.
Women's size Gildan t-shirts. Size S-2XL available.
Color choices are: light pink, gray or black t-shirts. All with the same logo
Men's size Gildan t-shirts: Sizes M-5XL in the same color choices: light pink, gray or black
The t-shirts will be $15 with a portion of the proceeds going to the MS Society.

In addition, I am offering 3/4 length sleeve baseball jerseys.
Color choices are gray shirt/black sleeves OR black shirt with hot pink sleeves. These come in S-2XL and are men's sizes.
The cost for these will be $20 each.

I MUST place all orders with my t-shirt company on October 22nd so you MUST get me your order AND payment PRIOR to that date or you may not get a shirt in your color choice or size.
I will order some xtras, but it is hard to guess what everyone will want/like/need. Know what I mean???????

Several of you paid for a shirt with your registration and I have that accounted for, but I WILL need to know which color choice you would like to make. If you paid and none of these appeal to you, lmk. If you paid for a tee and would prefer a jersey, you may let me know that as well and u can simply pay the difference.

The logo is adorable and can be viewed on the blog. I will also try to attach it here.
Any questions, just lmk.
Thanks,
Jackie

Samples

I MUST share with everyone this site. PLEASE bookmark it because you WILL want to go back and look at it Nov. 10th. ( feel free to peek now if you'd like :)

more classes

Photo Tiles
In this class you will create four tiles using your own photographs. Once you learn the trick to creating these tiles you will be making them over and over for yourself and to give away as unique gifts.
You will need to bring to class 4 Xerox color copies of your photos. You can NOT use copies from table-top printers, you MUST go to a store to get one from an actual Xerox machine. If you include printing on your image, then you need to request that the copy store print IN REVERSE! (Whim So Doodle is very familiar with this kind of printing and offers this service.)
Class will include 4 tiles, gel and matte mediums, foam brushes and felt feet for each tile.
Class fee: $25
Instructor: Stacey Shook, DT Member and Teacher at Whim So Doodle

Chunky UTEE Frame
Create a fun and funky frame using UTEE (Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel) and a Hot Melt Pot. Students will make square tiles using their own patterned paper scraps and a silicone ice cube tray. We will add "creative" rub-ons, Beadz, die cut embellishments and more to our 8x8 frame. This cool technique is easy to reproduce at home and you will love making more tiles that you can use for fashion pins, earrings, necklaces and in many home decor projects. You will be bringing your own papers and ribbon which means your frame will be totally unique and totally YOU! (See sample for paper suggestions...like papers with small patterns, light patterns and appox. 2x2 elements that can be cut from paper like hearts, swirls, etc.)
Class includes: 8x8 wooden frame, full jar of UTEE for each student, assorted collage papers, Beadz, die cuts, specialty adhesives, rub-ons and the use of our Melt Art Tools.
Students need to bring: basic class supplies plus assorted, coordinating scraps of patterned papers, ribbons to match (about 3 styles), coordinating acrylic paint & foam brush.
Optional to bring (only if you already own!): Hot Melt Pot and liner tray, Hot Melt tools, non-stick craft sheet and silicone ice cube trays (Wilton brand).
Fee: $35
Instructor: Jen Peck, Teacher at Whim So Doodle

Keep checking back and spread the word to those who might not check the blog......they NEED to.
Have a great week,

Moving Right Along

Things are seriously moving right along with the crop. I am excited to say that we now have a waiting list and Miami Dawn and I were able to firm up lots of little exciting details this last weekend while we were off at another crop.

It is going to be a fabulous time. My doorbell is ringing daily with some very cool donations, can't wait to start pulling everything out and organizing in the upcoming week or two. Check back for raffle items and auction items SOON.

I got the first draft of the artwork today and let me tell you........it is A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. If you haven't ordered a shirt, you WILL want one(or two or more). Remember, you do NOT have to attend the crop to order the shirts. Just lmk you want one. I will post the detailed info soon including the artwork once I have approved it.

In the meantime, if you find yourself with xtra time on your hands, I could use some volunteers, esp. with small tasks...........printing some labels, cutting holes in the tops of plastic containers for the raffles, designing some auction sheets and the like. Nothing overly time consuming, but more than I have time to devote at this moment.

I also NEED some volunteers for the theme/decorating committee. Shoot me an email if this is something you might be interested in.

Thanks so much. The excitment is surely building for this year's event. Check back often.

teachers/committees

Good Morning all,
I came home to a nice package yesterday and the pile of stuff is getting higher.
Would anyone like to volunteer to be a committee member? I have several small and some larger tasks that need to be accomplished. Nothing tooooooo major, but I can NOT do this myself(discovered that last year).

I am also trying to line up all of the vendors and teachers. PLEASE email me at scrapnfla@hotmail.com to sign up.

Thanks,
Jax

It is that time to begin working on that part of the schedule for the upcoming event.

So, if you are interested or have any fabulous ideas for a class that you would like to teach over the weekend, PLEASE email me at scrapnfla@hotmail.com with your class proposal.

I am looking for any and all who might be interested. Don't be shy. This is a fantastic opportunity to share your wealth of knowledge with those who are a great audience.

Another Celebrity Sighting

Okay, so I didn't really SEE the said celebrity, but I DID receive mail from her. OMG OMG OMG is all I could say!!

I was thrilled and ecstatic to get some amazing donations dropped at my doorstep by the UPS man today. A two day package from none other than ALI EDWARDS!!

OMG OMG OMG

I wanted to remind everyone that you can bid on silent auction items and buy raffle tickets even if you will NOT be in attendance at the event this year. So, spread the word and check back often to see some other incredible things going on all to raise money and awareness for the National MS Society.

Welcome August

It is hard to believe that this is a new month already. WOW.

I returned last evening from a weekend-long crop at the Kenilworth Lodge and it was so xciting because the next time that I am there will be in November for the 3rd Annual MS Crop 4 Hope.

I spent the weekend going thru planning ideas, room layouts, contacting potential vendors/donators and scrapping. Who could ask for more?

Well, here are some of the latest updates:
There were only 6 rooms left when I sat down with Tenille at the Lodge. So, I have put 10 additional rooms on "hold" for the MS Crop 4 Hope. PLEASE make sure you mention the crop when you call to reserve your room(s). Just to add to that, the xtra 10 rooms that I added are KING rooms-meaning that they only have one king bed in them. So, you might have to share with your roomies. That shouldn't be too much of a problem(I shared a double with my roomie this weekend), but wanted to give you a HEADS up.

Also, I came home to some envelopes of registrations. HEADS UP everyone:

At this point in time, it appears that we only have 20 spots available!! So we are darn close to being a SELL OUT for the 3rd year in a row.
What does that mean? Well, if you are on the fence about attending this year, make a decision quickly as you do NOT want to miss out!!

It is going to be amazing. Contact me at scrapnfla@hotmail.com if you have any questions or require further information.

working hard

so, Miami Dawn and I(with help from Amanda too) have been working hard to come up with a slogan for this year's event. I think we may finally "have" it.
I have also been researching styles of shirts for this year as well and "playing" with the logo for the shirts.

I must say that I am getting quite excited. I just luv the planning stages and watching it all come together.

So, if you havent' yet, mark your calendars, print off the registration form and get it in to me without delay. Also, don't forget to call the Kenilworth and make your reservation for your hotel room(s). The xtra special "good ones" go fast.

Have a great Thursday.

Album Imprinting

Here is the link to Nancy's embossing site. Check out what she has to offer and you can even fill out your order forms now to save time at the crop. How cool is that?

some other info to share

I also wanted to let you all know that Nancy, from Pressing Matters Imprinting will be on site at the crop this year to do your very own CUSTOM album Embossing and Imprinting. You can NOT even imagine how gorgeous your albums will look once they are done.

So, make sure to bring all of the albums that you want embossed, you can just bring the covers and/or spines with you already disassembled to save room for your supplies in the car-smiles.

And when you are achey from carrying all those albums and spines in to be embossed by Nancy, then you can be sure to sign up for $1 minute chair massages with Kelly.

Okay, off to get another cup of coffee.

update

I also wanted to let everyone know that while we were in Sebring yesterday mapping out the room, I made a great space saving decision.

I had originally planned on having 100 scrappers for the weekend, but the way we laid out the room, we are going to cap this event at 80 happy scrappers with 4 ft. of table space.

So, if you are on the fence, don't hesitate or you might miss out.

Back from Sebring

I just returned from a day trip over to Sebring and a long visit at the Kenilworth. BIG thanks to Amanda for driving over there with me and to Tenille for helping answer my gazillion questions.

I am so glad that I spent the time and did this as I have a MUCH clearer picture in my mind of the "plan" and the layout. Being an extremely visual person, I NEEDED to do this. Amanda and I mapped out the whole room and did wonders with the tape measure that I brought.

I now know xactly how I am going to lay out the room with tables, where the vendors will be etc.

So, all in all, despite the NUMEROUS turn arounds for fast food for Miss Amanda, it was a VERY productive day.

I am getting so very xcited about this. It is going to be phenominal.

Happy Hump Day

Good Morning all,
It is hard to believe sometimes how quickly life flies by. I have been done with school for nearly a whole week now and I am oh so enjoying my break thus far.
We have been spending alot of time in our new pool and just relaxing!! What a great way to begin vacation.

Today we are off on a mini vacation to the beach. We will be staying at the hotel in North Redington that Johnnie and I got married at almost 5 years ago. I am pretty much all packed and ready to go. Even two days away from home takes hours upon hours of planning and packing with a 3 year old.

I just wanted to let you all know to check out the generous sponsors thus far on the site. I do my best to make sure that when I am out and about buying scrappy supplies, that I purchase from the company's that donate. Just my way of saying THANX to them ........

So, get your registrations in and spread the word to all u know. I will be w/o puter for a few days and early next week I have my brain MRI scheduled and drs. appts, so it is that time of year. Thankfully, I continue to feel good and could not ask for anything more.

Life is good and I will leave you with a recent photo of my "boys".
Have a great week .

124 spots left. Don't forget to make sure that YOUR name is on one of them and to call the Lodge to reserve your room(s).

Scrappin Train Trip

CHOO CHOO
I arrived home about 1pm yesterday from the Choo Choo train weekend scrappy trip.
I was soooo incredibly tired as I had only about 3 hours sleep the night before and I did not even close my eyes on the trip home.
I am still dragging this morning but it was so very worth it. John and Joshy met me at the train station(even though I had my own car there).
Joshy was thrilled to see the train that I had arrived home on and a bit upset cause he "didn't have a ticket". But he did opt to ride home with me and told me in the car, "Mommy, I am so glad you are home cause you make my heart happy!!!!!"
I do see an Amtrak trip in this family's future.
The train itself was a very cool experience. St. Augustine still a truly wonderful experience and the crop was amazing. The only thing I wish had been different was that it would have been VERY nice to have had another day!!
My back is bothering me a bit from schleping luggage. Okay that is something that I wish had been different but due to the fact that we were a "short" trip, we couldn't check any of our bags and there were 24 of us rolling suitcases and totes thru the train and down the sidewalks.
Good thing we packed "light". Yeah right. What is lite for a scrapper?!
FABULOUS trip. Amazing class(not finished with mine yet), good meals, great shopping, nice hotel and MANY new friends. I would say a very successful weekend. SIGN me up for the next one!!
Several of the wonderful new friends that I made are anxiously awaiting the MS Crop 4 Hope and have agreed to be committee members, some want to come down early and help set up on Thursday(YEAH). Others are already planning their donations and baskets.
Scrappers are incredible!!

It is so impt. to have such great friends and incredible support.

Click to make a pledge or email me to join the Walk Team I have formed or volunteer for the Walk(I am Volunteer Coordinator). Thanks to all,

***And then my friend Jackie is participating in the MS Walk - you can click here to sponsor her. Jackie held the Crop4Hope back in September. She herself has MS, and will be walking with her team "Team Durning" her goal is to raise $5000.00. If you know Jackie, you probably know some of the people walking on her team like Helen, Amanda, Aunt Sue, or her husband John so drop by and cheer them on by making a pledge.
