Well, it is about that time..........

The time when many of you are beginning to think about the 5th annual(or is it the 6th?) MS Crop 4 Hope and I have had numerous emails inquiring about it for this year.

I have made a difficult decision that there will be NO MS Crop 4 Hope in 2010.

Personally, I have been going thru some "stuff" that has kept me preoccupied and unable to devote enough attention to making a crop this year successful. I am not willing to do anything half-way, so I have decided that a hiatus for this calendar year appropriate.

However, do NOT despair cause 2011 is just around the corner and I PROMISE PROMISE PROMISE, that although it will NOT be bigger, it will be BETTER and you will be the very first to know when I have something scheduled.

Think Spring.........

ps-NONE of what is going on with me is health-related. I am still "solid as a rock" as my neuro said at my yearly visit, with my MRI unchanged and you would still NEVER know that I am sick if you didn't know-thank goodness.

the wrap up of it all

With the walks all complete and the deadline for turning in funds raised for the walks......the complete wrap up has begun.

I am thrilled and delighted to share with you some very impt information:
My personal goal this year was to raise $5000 and with the help of numerous people, I exceeded that goal.
Goal:
$5,000.00
Achieved:
$5,867.80
INCREDIBLE. Not only that, but I am number 3 fundraiser in the Mid-Florida Chapter(23 counties). Hooooray.
I could never have achieved and surpassed this goal without you all so a HUGE thanx to each and every one who contributed anything to the cause.

Over 4,600 walkers and more than 400 volunteers registered for the 2010 Walk MS events and raised over $490,000. Funds raised through Walk MS are used to support research helping to find a cure for multiple sclerosis as well as support programs and services that enhance the lives of over 70,000 people affected by multiple sclerosis in Central Florida.
It is because of caring, dedicated members of our community, like you, that we are able to continue to fight for a world free of MS.

I am so very proud to be a part of all of this. Being diagnosed over 5 years ago and going for my yearly MRI tomorrow-I have NO symptoms and I feel very enthusiastic that the meds I take are during their job to slow the progression of my form of the disease. However, it is for the thousands of others not so fortunate that I find the energy and passion to continue to do what I do.

I am still deciding on the ms crop 4 hope this year. After some of the fall out of last year's event, i am not certain that I have the energy necessary to do it myself, but my tush and then be stabbed in the gut with some of the backlash.
When I look at these kinds of totals though and realize how very impt my fundraising efforts are to the Mid-Florida Chapter, how can I really stop doing it?

I can't . But, I do need to re-evaluate the process and where and what Iam going to do, cause if you know me. #3 is NOT good enough. Team Durning/Captain Jax will be number one someday soon so that others can benefit.

Scrappy Hugs,
Captain Jax

totals

walk ms march 27th broke all expected records and I thank each and every one of you for that.

we had nearly 1,500 walkers at the zoo and I had nearly 175 volunteers.

our goal this year was raised from $145,000 to $150,000 which was a hefty goal in this economy and we did it.
To date, over $151,000 from the Tampa walk alone!! Can u believe it???????

Team Durning is about to break $6,000 and much of that is from the ms crop 4 hope this year.

Thank u to all who donate. It is not too late if you would like to make a donation shoot me an email.

GLORIOUS day

the sun is shining and in less than one week's time, the temps have gone from 50's to true FL spring weather. Today is supposed to be 80!! I love this time of year. This afternoon/evening is the Tampa MS Walk at Lowry Park Zoo and although I am usually stressing a bit about now, I am calm and very xcited.I think I have all the volunteer stuff done and as organized as it is going to be at this point. I KNOW that it will be just fine. I did NOT color code the sign in, which will make some very happy. LOL.Looking forward to a fantastic and successful event. If you have nothin to do, come on out .......Happy walk ms Saturday everyone!!

Also need to pack some clothing, charge camera batteries, and and and.

I am leaving tomorrow morning, but can be reached via my cell number if you need me and I will check in from the hotel.

Email me or shout if you know of something I forgot.

last minute reminders for you

we have a late comer in the vendor spot and u will DEF. want to check out the blog to read about Gina and Accountable Kids. I can NOT wait to purchase one for my lil guy. It appears to be just what we need around here.

Also, do NOT forget the Scrappy Yard Sale.......bring all the items that are scrappy related u no longer have a "home" for. Put a price on them and have them join the swap table. A quarter, a dollar, fifty cents. It will ALL add up and it is a win win situation cause you are clearing out items that u no longer use to go to new homes and making room for the bunches of stuff u will go home with.
In addition, the NMSS will get all the money from the sale.
Magazines, idea books and anything that is still in pretty good shape. You know what I am talking about here. help make some room and some loot for the team.

HHHHHHHUUUUUGE reminder: bring address lables so save yourself from writing your name on all the raffles u will purchase. AND for those of you who have scrapped in the Plantation room and those who have not, plain and simple, it gets kinda dark in there. So, I strongly rec. your packing your OTT lite and any and all xtension cords that u might have.

I think that is it for now. Remember, there will be snacks and drinks provided. feel free to bring something to share and if you KNOW that there is one specific flavor of chips u eat, or one brand of soda u drink, PLEASE feel free to bring your own. There is a Publix right in front of the hotel and a CVS just in case you can't scrap w/o a certain item that I might not have.

Comin down to the wire. Get your teams formed and get ready to have a most AMAZING Race of a weekend. U never know, you just might bump into a certain travel gnome........hmmmm.
